Zephyr and Grape Creek

Zephyr Minerals Ltd. is a gold exploration and development company focused on advancing its Dawson Gold Project in Colorado, USA. That property is down by Canon City, in Fremont County.

Pikes Peak Chapter of Trout Unlimited is by no means anti-mining. We applaud the many examples of modern mining commenced with careful assessment and protection of our natural resources, especially when it comes to fisheries on the Front Range.

That said, Zephyr is currently proposing to lease a State Trust Township section that includes a favorite trout fishery: Grape Creek. PPCTU does not want to see surface disturbance in the vicinity of Grape Creek on the scale that drilling would impose.

Now, PPCTU and CTU are about to get involved. In the meanwhile, if you know this creek and you want to contribute your opinion, you can contact the State Land Trust Manager at:

Ms. Mari Johnson, Stewardship Trust Manager, 1127 Sherman Street, Suite 300, Denver, CO 80203-2206.

If you’re not familiar with Grape Creek, here is a link to an essay written by Angler’s Covey fly fishing guide, Kaitlin Boyer, on Redington’s Small Stream Sunday page:
