Call for Volunteers to help with virtual Stream Girls “Field Trip”
Posted by Michele White on February 10, 2021 in Uncategorized
Last year, TU’s annual interface with Girl Scouts of America had to go virtual. You see, once year, TU hosts a field trip for the girl scouts to get a badge by participating in an outdoors event – in this case, river conservation. This has turned out to be a really fun and inspirational event.
Due to COVID, the 2020 “field trip” was hosted via ZOOM meetings and the individual girls scouts performed their field tasks and checked in under supervised Stream Girl leaders. PPCTU contributes by volunteering persons to handle a few different easy tasks in support of the Stream Girl leaders. An example is, last year(2020), 3 PPCTU volunteers participated in a ZOOM meeting and were available to answer technical questions about our local rivers.
For 2021, PPCTU is seeking volunteers who might participate in Stream Girls virtual “river conservation field trip” again. Some of the tasks that we might take on include perhaps picking up and dropping off some gear (here in Colorado Springs); participation in the ZOOM meeting to contribute answers to guestions, perhaps helping in a virtual fly tying class, and participate in the accolades at the closing ZOOM.
If you are interested, there is an online training portal for volunteers to sign up for training, orientation, etc.
Here is a link to sign up for Stream Girls Volunteer Training and Orientation:
The virtual training will be on Wednesday, March 3rd at 5:00PM. Please register in advance. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!
