Trout in the Classroom, 2021

Posted by Michele White on February 6, 2021 in Blog Post, Education, Layout Items, Projects, Youth

Colorado Trout Unlimited is exploring opportunities to expand the “Trout in the Classroom” (where PPCTU helps specific schools to have a tank full of trout eggs and grow them up to fingerlings so the whole school can learn about water quality, aquatic ecosystems, fish biology, river conservation, and much more.) Last year, our classes physically participated by means of the teacher taking care of the tank(s) and the students were either linked via ZOOM, or intermittently in class at the school.

Look at the eggs “eyeing up”!

The Trout in the Classroom program that PPCTU has hosted in 5 schools in our district, allows K-12 students to raise trout and we also help with finding a place to release them (A legal place).

This is a great opportunity for PPCTU to engage with our local schools, youth, and their families.

If you have a connection to a school as a parent, teacher, staff, or know someone who may be interested in this opportunity, feel free to connect with CTU at
