Join us in treating this stream for Whirling Disease, the work will consist of collecting the carcasses of dead fish for disposal. Difficulty Level: Moderate
What: Volunteers (in teams of three) will work with CPW/USFS staff to remove dead fish from Rock Creek in the treatment site. Volunteers will use dip nets to extract the carcasses and get them out of the stream to help clear the area of Whirling Disease. This project is rated as moderate-strenuous and will require a full day of wading in loose-stone creeks and bushwhacking.
When: August 31, 2017 (back-up date 9/1/17). Volunteers will meet in the town of Jefferson, CO at 8:00am. We will then carpool from the meeting location to the project site.
Where: Rock Creek headwaters. Meeting Location: Jefferson, CO (at 8:00am)
What to Bring: Volunteers will need to bring their own lunch, water, snacks, hat/sunscreen, decontaminated waders, and a good hiking backpack (if they have one).
