“The Geology of South Park and its Influence on Fly Fishing, Lake George, Colorado”

Presented by Michele White, owner of the Tumbling Trout Fly Shop.

Perhaps you didn’t know that there are more than 70 perineal springs in South Park, 50 of which feed into the Middle Fork and the South Fork of the South Platte River. Why is this of any interest to an angler and does this have anything to do with big trout?

Come and see for yourself why springs, rocks, shales, sand, volcanoes, cavemen, bison, and UFOs might possibly be of interest to you as an angler looking for a grand trout on South Park, Colorado.

Michele White has a Master’s degree in Geochemistry of Economic Geology and has worked as a professional geologist for 20 years. She is also an avid paleontologist working as a curatorial assistant with fossil fish at the American Museum of Natural History in New York City. Her passion has been the study of the origins of life through fossil record, with a minor in biology (Molecular, cellular, developmental biology).
