We are going to be teaching a fly tying course to youth at the Colorado College in Colorado Springs at a building on their campus (931 N. Nevada Avenue). This is offered through CC Outdoor Education and is an opportunity for our chapter to interface with young people from all over and encourage them to experience the bounty of fly fishing in our region.
The class is in the student curriculum for 5 weeks. So, 5 Fly Tying classes for 15 students, one class per week on Wednesday at 6-8 p.m. Look:
- March 6
- March 27
- April 3
- April 10
- April 24
There will be one main instructor and we need multiple (5 at the least) assistants to provide one-on-one help. The assistants are covering everything from threading the bobbin, to mounting the fly, perhaps fixing a glitch here and there. The instructor provides the tutelage.
This is always a great experience for both the students and the assistants. All kinds of interesting questions come up and doors open for these intelligent, motivated young minds.
